Frequently Asked Questions About Solar Roofing

Short answers to the questions we get most. Where something depends on your location or hasn't been confirmed for the U.S., we say so plainly. If you don't see your question, send it to us with your project details.

Is SolRoof a roof or a solar system?

Both. Active FIT VOLT photovoltaic panels and matching FIT steel panels go on together as one coordinated roof.

How is a solar roof different from solar panels?

Panels are mounted above a finished roof. A solar roof is the roof covering, with solar built into some of its panels.

Can it be considered during a reroof?

Yes. A full roof replacement is one of the two situations it's meant for. New construction is the other.

Who should be involved early?

The owner, the designer or architect, the roofer and the electrician. The roofing and electrical work are planned together.

What affects whether my project is suitable?

Your location, the shape and orientation of the roof, shade, your timeline, local availability and a technical review.

What technical documents are available?

Send us your project details and what you need. We'll share what's currently available and tell you what's still being confirmed for the U.S. market.

Can I request a quote?

Yes. A final recommendation and quotation depend on your location, project details, local availability and technical review.

Are the photographed homes in the United States?

No. They're completed installations in Europe, including Poland. Local specifications and availability may differ.

What about pricing, warranties and incentives?

Pricing and warranty terms are provided with a quotation for your project. Incentive programs vary by state and utility and change over time, so check current rules with the program or a tax professional.
